Al Nassr take on league champions Al-Ittihad in a blockbuster clash to open the tournament.

The Super Cup is usually played by four teams which consist of winners and runners of the Saudi League and Winners of the Saudi King cups and runners up of the Saudi King’s Cup.

But this time it’s different

TEAMS PARTICIPATING IN THIS YEAR’S SAUDI SUPER CUP.

Al Ittihad won the Saudi Pro-League and the Saudi King’s Cup thereby giving them the chance to feature in the tournament.

Al Nassr finished third in the Saudi Pro-league which automatically rules them out of the competition but they would be participating because Al Ittihad won the double (League and King’s Cup) thereby giving Al Nassr the slot to participate in the tournament.

Al Quadasiya will also be playing in the Saudi King’s Cup because they finished runners up in the Saudi King’s Cup thereby giving them the chance to play in this Super Cup. Al Ahli who finished fifth in the Saudi Pro-league will also be participating in the Super Cup because Al Hilal who finished runners up in the Saudi Pro-league dropped out of the tournament because of the scheduling conflict with the FIFA Club World Cup thereby giving Al Ahli the slot to participate in the Saudi Super Cup.
