Barcelona Defeats Crvena Zvezda 5-2 in Champions League Thriller

Barcelona extended their Champions League winning streak with a 5-2 victory over Crvena Zvezda, bolstered by a Robert Lewandowski double and three assists from Jules Kounde. Hansi Flick’s side showcased their attacking strength and resilience, securing their seventh consecutive win in all competitions.

The visitors took control early, forcing a corner just seconds into the game. Crvena Zvezda thought they had scored through Timi Max Elsnik, but the goal was ruled offside. Shortly afterward, Barcelona broke the deadlock in the 18th minute. Raphinha delivered a precise free kick into the box, where Inigo Martinez headed it into the far corner, giving Barcelona a 1-0 lead.

Crvena Zvezda responded valiantly, with Silas Fundu finishing a well-timed pass to level the score. However, just before halftime, Lewandowski capitalized on a rebounded shot from Raphinha, restoring Barcelona’s lead with a close-range strike. The goal marked Lewandowski’s 18th of the season and kept Barcelona narrowly ahead going into the break.

The second half saw Barcelona find another gear. Within 13 minutes, Lewandowski added his second, finishing off a low cross from Kounde to make it 3-1. Kounde’s creative presence was felt again minutes later as he set up Raphinha, who slotted a composed finish to extend the lead.

Barcelona’s young midfielder, Fermin Lopez, added the fifth goal, capping a slick build-up that started with a pinpoint through ball from Marc Casado. Kounde’s third assist of the night highlighted his attacking influence from the right-back position.

Although Crvena Zvezda substitute Milson pulled one back with a stunning strike, it was little more than a consolation as Barcelona maintained control until the final whistle. Lopez nearly scored again, striking the crossbar with a late curling effort.

With 19 goals in just 16 games, Lewandowski is now one goal away from a century in the Champions League. Raphinha’s strong form this season has also been a highlight, as he continues to thrive under Flick, who has revitalized Barcelona’s European ambitions.

Final Score: Crvena Zvezda 2-5 Barcelona
