In the aftermath of their Matchday 9 fixture against Ikorodu City, Enyimba Football Club has been charged with breaching the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Framework and Rules due to comments posted on their social media handle. The NPFL cited the Aba-based club for making disparaging remarks about match officials on X (formerly Twitter), an action deemed capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
As a result, Enyimba has been fined N1 million for misconduct. Additionally, the NPFL issued a stern warning to the club, advising them to use appropriate channels to address complaints in the future. The league authorities have made it clear that any recurrence of this behavior will lead to harsher penalties.
Enyimba has the right to appeal the sanctions within 48 hours of receiving the notice. This incident serves as a reminder to NPFL clubs about maintaining professionalism and adhering to league rules, especially regarding public statements and conduct on social media.
