Ghana’s Black Stars have failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, marking the first time in 20 years that the team will not feature in the continental tournament.
The decisive match against Angola ended in a 1-1 draw, with Ghana taking an early lead through a stunning free kick from Jordan Ayew. Despite a strong defensive effort, including a crucial penalty save by Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Angola’s relentless pressure paid off in the second half when Zini equalized with a well-placed header.
The Black Stars struggled to maintain possession and relied heavily on individual moments of brilliance, leaving fans frustrated with the team’s lack of cohesive attacking play. Angola dominated the match with 70% possession, creating numerous chances that could have tilted the game further in their favor.
The standings in Group F after 5 games, Angola have  13 points, followed by Sudan with 7 points. Niger placed third with 4 points, while Ghana, with only 3 points, at the bottom of the group.
