Nigeria’s Super Eagles have kept their World Cup dream alive after a dramatic 4-0 victory over Benin Republic secured them a spot in the CAF playoff tournament.
After struggling for goals throughout the qualifiers, the Eagles came alive when it mattered most. Victor Osimhen bagged a hat trick, while Frank Onyeka sealed the win with a late strike that sent fans into wild celebration.
Although Nigeria missed out on the automatic qualification spot to South Africa, their strong second-place finish means they still have a shot at the 2026 World Cup through the playoffs.
The Eagles will now join Gabon, Cameroon, and DR Congo in the CAF playoffs scheduled for November in Morocco. The winner will advance to the global inter-confederation playoffs, where two nations will clinch the final World Cup tickets.
For Nigeria, the dream is still alive and the road to 2026 just got a lot more exciting.
